Insignia for the Soyuz 38 space mission, which took a Cuban and a Soviet cosmonaut to the Salyut 6 space station in September 1980. It was part of the Interkosmos program, which trained members of non-Soviet countries to participate in the Soviet space program. Besides the Cuban Arnaldo Tamayo Méndez, who became the first Latin American and first Black person in space, Interkosmos also sent the first Asian person to space, Tuan Pham of Vietnam.
